Developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), this workshop offers a behavior management system designed to help individuals working with people who are in crisis to maintain safety and security for all involved. The program focuses on prevention, de-escalation, personal safety, and physical intervention techniques. It aims to empower staff to manage difficult situations effectively and responsibly.
Objectives:
Identify the potential for aggressive or disruptive behaviors
Identify the appropriate measures to avoid, decelerate, and/or de-escalate a crisis situation
Assess the level of risk associated with a crisis situation and intervene appropriately. Manage behavioral risk by learning disengagement and/or holding skills
Describe the potential impact that crisis situations have on individuals and staff while providing person-centered, proactive services
